About This Blog
As a self-anointed economist, every day I read or hear statements from politicians and the media that, to me, indicate a complete lack of understanding of the most basic concepts of economics. Perhaps the media can be excused – after all, most of them probably majored in English – but politicians are the stewards of our economy.
I’d love to see some sort of economics educational prerequisite for elected office, but I doubt that is happening any time soon. In the meantime, the level of discourse in our country becomes more and more base. Opinions and policies are reduced to sound bites by the 24-hour news cycle. Economics and public policy are nuanced and complex and deserve orderly, intelligent debate. This blog is a place for me to have that debate with myself, and, if anyone turns out to actually read it, they can participate as well.
